What's wrong?
The convertible seats in affected 2021-2023 Blue Bird All American Transit Bus and Vision Transit Bus models are bolted through the floor. The underfloor washer spreads the load at the rear seat bolt location, so the seat belt anchorage and seat base stay secured to the bus structure.
On affected buses, 1 reinforcement washer was left out under the floor in certain seat locations. Without that washer, the seat installation does not meet the seat belt anchorage standard for convertible seats. In a crash, an incorrectly installed convertible seat can loosen, increasing the risk of injury to the occupant.
There is no warning sign before this problem is found. A corrected seat installation has an underfloor washer installed at each rear seat bolt location, so the seat needs to be inspected against Blue Bird recall instructions.
