Mercedes-Benz is recalling 15,502 2019-2022 Glc 300, Glc 350 E, and AMG GLC43 vehicles because the headlights can be aimed too high, creating glare for oncoming traffic. Incorrectly aimed headlights can reduce oncoming drivers' visibility and increase crash risk, and Mercedes-Benz dealers will inspect and adjust the headlights free of charge.

What's wrong?
The headlamps on the 2019-2022 Mercedes-Benz AMG GLC43, Glc 300, and Glc 350 E are the front lighting units that illuminate the road and make the vehicle visible to other drivers. They also have to aim the beam at a controlled height so the light reaches the lane ahead without shining into oncoming drivers' eyes.
On these vehicles, a headlamp adjustment tool at the production plant was out of position. That left certain headlamps aimed higher than Mercedes-Benz's production specification. The lamps still turn on and light the road, but the beam angle can create glare for oncoming traffic.
There is no warning sign before failure. The driver does not get a dashboard message or other alert, because the problem is the physical aim of the lamp unit, not an electrical fault.

What's the safety risk?
Incorrectly aimed headlights reduce visibility of oncoming traffic and increase the risk of a crash. The driver does not receive a warning before the problem. Use extra care after dark and schedule the inspection soon. Repair is free at any franchised Mercedes-Benz dealer.
What should I do?
- Check your VIN to confirm your 2019-2022 Mercedes-Benz AMG GLC43, Glc 300, or Glc 350 E is included in this recall.
- Contact a franchised Mercedes-Benz dealer to schedule the free headlight-aim inspection and correction for headlights adjusted too high.
- Bring the recall notice if Mercedes-Benz mailed one. If not, reference recall number 24V070 when you call.
- Use low beams and avoid high beams near oncoming traffic until the dealer checks the headlight aim.
What happens at the repair
At the dealer, a Mercedes-Benz technician inspects the headlight adjustment and corrects the aim if it is too high. The recall repair is free, including parts and labor tied to the adjustment. Because MBUSA said some involved vehicles were previously subject to this condition, Mercedes-Benz's standard reimbursement plan covers qualifying headlight adjustment repairs paid before the owner notice. Bring documentation for any related out-of-pocket repair and ask the service desk or MBUSA customer service how to submit it.
