What's wrong?
The furnace cold air return on the 2023-2024 Coachmen Prism helps feed cabin air back to the furnace so the heater has the airflow it needs. In normal operation, that return air keeps the furnace moving heat through the ducts and helps prevent heat from building up inside the furnace cabinet.
On affected Prism motorhomes, the wrong cold air return setup was installed during manufacturing. With restricted return air, the furnace can overheat. That heat can crack the burn chamber, the metal area where combustion happens, and carbon monoxide can then enter the living space instead of staying contained in the exhaust path.
The warning sign is short cycling. That means the furnace starts, shuts off before completing a normal heating run, then starts again. If that happens, treat it as a sign the furnace is not moving air correctly.
Who's affected?
Covers the Prism motorhome across two model years, with the same furnace component listed for both years.

What happens at the repair
At the dealer, a Coachmen technician inspects the furnace cold air return grill and installs the correct grill if the wrong part is present. The recall repair is free, and parts and labor are covered. If you already paid for an in-scope repair, Forest River says refunds are limited to repairs within the scope of this defect. Submit the service invoice to the Forest River warranty manager so the refund request can be reviewed. The vehicle still needs the recall inspection or repair so the dealer can confirm the correct parts and procedures were used.
