What's wrong?
The affected 2024 trucks use a Composilite EXS20 auxiliary axle with steering knuckle assemblies at the wheel ends. The bearing journal is the machined surface in the knuckle that helps support the wheel end hub and its bearings. The hub assembly carries the wheel end and needs that journal seated correctly before the hub is installed.
On these trucks, the bearing journals were not fully seated in the steering knuckle assemblies. Hendrickson traced the problem to worn installation tooling and quality checks that did not catch the seating issue after installation. When the journal is not fully seated, the wheel end hub assembly is not installed the way it was designed to fit.
Owners can see oil lubricant leaking from the wheel end hub assemblies. That leak is the warning sign named for this recall and should be reported when scheduling the free recall repair.

What's the safety risk?

What should I do?
- Check your VIN to confirm your 2024 Peterbilt or Kenworth truck is included in this recall.
- Contact a franchised Peterbilt dealer, or a Kenworth dealer for Kenworth trucks, to schedule the free steering-knuckle inspection and repair.
- Ask the dealer to inspect and replace the steering knuckle assemblies as needed to correct the bearing-journal and wheel-end hub installation issue.
- Bring the recall notice if you have it. If not, reference recall number 24V043 when you call.
- Drive cautiously until the repair is complete, and stop driving if you see oil leakage near a wheel end or notice steering changes.
What happens at the repair
At the dealer, a Peterbilt technician inspects the steering knuckle assemblies and replaces them where needed so the wheel end hub assemblies can be installed correctly. The recall repair is available now, and parts and labor are free. If you already paid for a steering knuckle or wheel end hub repair tied to this defect, PACCAR's standard reimbursement plan covers documented expenses. Bring receipts or repair invoices to the service desk and ask how to submit them under the recall reimbursement plan.
