Recall 24V028 affects 25 2020-2022 Marion Rpm, Aerial, Pumper, and Rescue vehicles for overloaded electrical circuits. Repair is free at any franchised Marion dealer.
Marion is recalling 25 2020-2022 Pumper, Rescue, Aerial, and Rpm emergency vehicles equipped with Weldon 8X16 input-output nodes because a short circuit or wiring failure can leave an output pin on and overload electrical circuits. Those circuits can overheat and increase the risk of fire; Marion dealers will complete the recall repair free of charge.

What's wrong?
The 8 x 16 Input-Output Node in the 2020-2022 Marion Rpm, Aerial, Pumper, and Rescue vehicles is an electronic control module for body electrical circuits. It receives electrical inputs, then switches output pins on or off so lights, equipment, or other wired functions get power only when commanded.
On affected vehicles, the current sensing calibration in the node is outside specification. That calibration is the setting that tells the firmware how much electrical load is too high. If an external short circuit or wiring failure happens, the firmware does not shut off the output pin as designed. The circuit stays powered, which can overload the wiring and cause it to overheat.
There is no warning sign before failure. An owner or operator would not get a specific early symptom from the node before the circuit remains powered during a short or wiring fault.
Who's affected?
Spans four Marion truck lines across the 2020-2022 model years, all tied to the same input-output node wiring.

What's the safety risk?
Overloaded electrical circuits can overheat and increase the risk of fire. There is no warning sign before failure, so if your VIN is included, schedule the firmware update soon and follow any dealer instructions until the work is complete. Repair is free at any franchised Marion dealer.
What should I do?
- Check your VIN to confirm your 2020-2022 Marion Rpm, Aerial, Pumper, or Rescue vehicle is included in this recall.
- Contact Marion customer service to schedule the free Weldon firmware update that helps the input-output node shut off output pins during a short circuit or wiring failure.
- Reference recall number 24V028 when you call, and ask where Marion wants the vehicle serviced.
- Bring the owner letter if you have it, along with any service notes about electrical wiring or circuit problems.
- Limit vehicle operation until the firmware update is complete if the vehicle has an active electrical fault or wiring failure.
What happens at the repair
At the dealer, a Marion technician works with Weldon to update the firmware in the Weldon input output node. The update is free under recall 24V028, and parts and labor are covered. The repair is meant to correct firmware that fails to shut off the output pin after a short circuit or wiring failure, which can overload electrical circuits. If you already paid for a related repair before the owner letter, keep your invoice and repair documentation. Weldon reviews reimbursement requests on an individual basis.

Frequently asked questions
What is recall 24V028?
Recall 24V028 covers 25 2020-2022 Marion Rpm, Aerial, Pumper, and Rescue vehicles equipped with Weldon 8X16 Input-Output nodes. A short circuit or wiring failure can leave an output pin on, overload an electrical circuit, and raise fire risk. Marion and Weldon will update the firmware free of charge.
What should I do if my 2020-2022 Marion Rpm, Aerial, Pumper, or Rescue is on this recall?
Check your VIN to confirm your specific vehicle is included in recall 24V028. If it is, contact Marion Body Works customer service at 1-715-754-5261 and reference recall 24V028. Marion will work with Weldon to update the affected firmware free of charge.
Is the recall repair free?
Yes. Federal recall law requires the manufacturer to repair the defect at no cost, and Marion states that the Weldon firmware update is free of charge. Keep the recall number handy when you contact Marion Body Works customer service.
What is the safety risk?
The safety risk is fire. In the recalled vehicles, a short circuit or wiring failure can keep a Weldon node output pin from shutting off. That can overload an electrical circuit and cause overheating. Marion and Weldon address the defect with a firmware update.
When were owners notified about recall 24V028?
Marion mailed owner notification letters on January 26, 2024. If you own a 2020-2022 Marion Rpm, Aerial, Pumper, or Rescue vehicle and never received a letter, check your VIN and contact Marion Body Works customer service at 1-715-754-5261.
