What's wrong?
The cab mirror assembly on these 2022-2024 trucks gives the driver side and rear visibility from the cab. The mirror glass sits inside the housing, and a glass lock ring holds that glass in place. That ring has to be fully seated so the glass stays fixed while the truck is driven.
On affected T180, 535, 537, 536, 548, T280, T480, and T380 trucks, the lock ring was not fully seated during initial assembly or plant rework. When the ring is not seated, it does not clamp the mirror glass as designed. Road vibration and normal use can let the glass loosen and detach from the cab mirror assembly.
There is no warning sign before failure. A driver can lose the mirror glass without an advance sound, light, or change in mirror operation.

What's the safety risk?
If the mirror glass detaches, driver visibility drops and crash risk increases. There is no immediate warning before the glass comes loose, so check the mirror before driving and schedule the inspection soon if your VIN is included. Repair is free at any franchised Kenworth dealer.
What should I do?
- Check your VIN to confirm your 2022-2024 Kenworth or Peterbilt truck is included in this recall.
- Contact a franchised Kenworth dealer, or the franchised dealer for the badge on your truck, to schedule the free mirror-glass lock-ring inspection and repair that keeps the cab mirror glass seated.
- Bring the owner letter if you have it. If not, reference recall number 24V017 when you call.
- Inspect the cab mirror before each trip and stop using the truck if the mirror glass is loose or missing.
- Call Kenworth customer service at 1-425-828-5888 with questions about the recall.
What happens at the repair
At the dealer, a Kenworth technician inspects the cab mirror glass lock ring to confirm it is fully seated, then repairs the mirror assembly as needed. The recall repair is free, with parts and labor covered. If you paid out of pocket for this mirror repair before the owner letter, PACCAR's general reimbursement plan gives you a way to seek repayment. Bring receipts or repair paperwork to the service desk and ask how to submit the claim.

Frequently asked questions
What is recall 24V017?
Recall 24V017 covers 10,611 2022-2024 Kenworth trucks with cab mirror glass lock rings that were not fully seated. The mirror glass can detach and reduce driver visibility, increasing crash risk. Dealers will inspect the lock ring and repair it for free.
What should I do if my 2022-2024 Kenworth T180, 535, 537, 536, 548, T280, T480, or T380 is on this recall?
Check your VIN to confirm your specific truck is included in recall 24V017. If it is, contact a franchised Kenworth dealer to schedule the cab mirror inspection and any needed lock ring repair. Reference recall number 24V017 when you call.
Is the recall repair free?
Yes. Federal recall law requires the manufacturer to repair the defect at no cost, and dealers will inspect the mirror glass lock ring and repair it as necessary free of charge.
What is the safety risk?
The safety risk is reduced driver visibility. If the cab mirror glass detaches, the driver loses part of the rearward view needed for lane changes, turns, and backing. That reduced visibility increases crash risk under NHTSA campaign 24V017.
When were owners notified about recall 24V017?
Owner letters were mailed February 23, 2024. If you bought the truck used or never received a letter, the VIN decides whether the recall applies. Check your VIN, then call a franchised Kenworth dealer if your truck is included.
