Recall 23V894 covers 543 2017-2024 Rosenbauer Commander, Avenger, Warrior, and Commercial vehicles for overloaded electrical circuits. Firmware update is free at any franchised Rosenbauer dealer.
Rosenbauer is recalling 543 2017-2024 Commander, Warrior, Avenger, and Commercial F-350 vehicles under recall 23V894 because controller firmware can fail to shut off an output pin after a short circuit or wiring failure. That fault can overload electrical circuits and overheat them, increasing the risk of fire; Rosenbauer dealers will complete the repair free of charge.

What's wrong?
The V-MUX 8X16 node on these 2017-2024 Rosenbauer fire trucks is an electrical control module. It acts like a traffic controller for vehicle circuits, sending power or signals to connected equipment when the truck's control system calls for them. Its firmware, the built-in software on the module, tells each output pin when to turn on and shut off.
On affected trucks, the node was built with firmware tied to the recalled specification. In a short circuit or wiring failure, that firmware can fail to shut off an output pin. That leaves the circuit energized when it should be protected, overloading the wiring and creating added heat. Rosenbauer and Weldon traced the included units by firmware version, which is recorded on a decal on each unit.
There is no warning sign before failure. The first sign of a problem can be heat-related damage or fire in an overloaded electrical circuit.
Who's affected?
Covers Commander, Commercial F-350, Commercial F-550, Warrior, Avenger, Commercial 108SD, and Commercial 114SD trucks across 2017-2024, all tied to the same electrical system component.

What happens at the repair
At the dealer, a Rosenbauer technician updates the vehicle firmware so the system can shut off the output pin when an electrical short or wiring failure occurs. The firmware update and labor are free under the recall. Rosenbauer used its general reimbursement plan on file for this campaign. If you already paid out of pocket for the same firmware repair before the recall work, ask Rosenbauer customer service or the service desk how to submit documented expenses under that plan.
