Mercedes-Benz recall 23V878 covers 7 2023-2024 Gle 450, Gle 350, and Glc 300 vehicles for fuel-pump sealing defects. Free dealer repair.
Mercedes-Benz is recalling 7 2023-2024 Gle 450, Gle 350, and Glc 300 vehicles with M254 engines because incorrect screws on the high-pressure fuel pump can stop the pump from sealing correctly. Fuel and oil can leak onto the road or hot engine parts, raising crash and fire risk; Mercedes-Benz dealers will replace the screws free of charge.

What's wrong?
The high-pressure fuel pump on affected 2023-2024 Mercedes-Benz Gle 450, Gle 350, and Glc 300 vehicles is mounted to the engine and feeds fuel at high pressure for combustion. It has to seal tightly against the tandem oil pump, which helps move oil through the engine. The screws holding that joint are part of the seal.
On these vehicles, the wrong screws were installed during assembly. Mercedes-Benz found the screws were too long, so the high-pressure fuel pump does not clamp against the tandem oil pump as designed. That poor clamp can keep the sealing surfaces from closing fully, which can allow oil or fuel to leak from the pump area.
When the issue occurs, the driver can see the malfunction indicator light in the instrument cluster. That warning light is the owner-facing sign to have the vehicle checked.

A matching year and model does not guarantee inclusion. Check your VIN to confirm whether your specific SUV is included.
What's the safety risk?
An inadequate seal can let fuel and oil leak onto the road, creating a hazard for other drivers and increasing crash risk. If fuel or oil reaches hot engine parts, fire risk also rises. Treat a malfunction indicator light as a reason to drive cautiously and schedule the repair soon. Repair is free at any franchised Mercedes-Benz dealer.
What should I do?
- Check your VIN to confirm your 2023-2024 Mercedes-Benz Gle 450, Gle 350, or Glc 300 is included in this recall.
- Contact a franchised Mercedes-Benz dealer to schedule the free high-pressure fuel-pump replacement that fixes the inadequate seal behind the fuel and oil leak risk.
- Bring the recall notice if Mercedes-Benz mailed one. If not, reference recall number 23V878 when you call.
- Park the vehicle and call the dealer if you see fuel or oil leaking before the repair.
What happens at the repair
At the dealer, a Mercedes-Benz technician replaces the high-pressure fuel pump and checks the pump sealing area connected to the tandem oil pump. The replacement parts and labor are covered by the recall. Repairs already paid out of pocket are handled through the new vehicle warranty, not a separate reimbursement program, because the involved vehicles remain under warranty. Ask the service desk how warranty coverage applies if you have prior paperwork for this fuel pump condition.
