What's wrong?
The fuel pump in the affected 2013-2023 Honda vehicles sits inside the fuel tank and sends gasoline to the engine at the pressure it needs to run. When the pump is working normally, fuel moves steadily from the tank to the engine so the vehicle starts, accelerates, and keeps running without interruption.
The problem starts with the pump's impeller, the small rotating part that helps move fuel through the pump. Honda says the impeller was improperly molded with low density material. After exposure to drying solvent during production, the surface can crack, absorb too much fuel, and deform. Once the impeller changes shape, it can rub against the fuel pump body and stop the pump from working.
Owners can see a warning light, including the Malfunction Indicator Lamp, before the pump fails. The vehicle can also lose power, become hard to start, or stall.

What's the safety risk?
Fuel pump failure can stall the engine while driving, increasing the risk of a crash. If the malfunction indicator lamp comes on, power cuts in and out, the vehicle is hard to start, or it stalls, avoid further driving and call a Honda dealer. Repair is free at any franchised Honda dealer.
What should I do?
- Check your VIN to confirm your 2013-2023 Honda or Acura model is included in this recall.
- Contact a franchised Honda or Acura dealer to schedule the free fuel pump module replacement.
- Bring the recall notice if Honda mailed one. If not, reference recall number 23V858 and Honda recall KGC or KGD when you call.
- Drive cautiously until the repair is complete. If the engine stalls, move out of traffic, stop in a safe place, and call the dealer before driving again.
What happens at the repair
At the dealer, a Honda technician replaces the fuel pump module inside the fuel tank. The recall repair is free, and parts and labor are covered. If you already paid out of pocket for this fuel pump module repair, Honda's recall reimbursement plan handles eligible documented expenses. Bring repair invoices and payment documentation to the service desk or contact Honda customer service at 1-888-234-2138 for the claim path.
