Recall 23V617 covers 871 2023-2024 Kenworth and Peterbilt trucks for leaking remote fuel-filter hoses. Free replacement at any franchised Kenworth dealer.
Kenworth is recalling 871 2023-2024 T280, T380, T480, 536, 537, and 548 trucks because remote Stage 2 fuel filter hoses were damaged during production and can leak or disconnect. A disconnected hose will stall the engine and a fuel leak raises fire risk, so Kenworth dealers will complete the repair free of charge.

What's wrong?
The remote Stage 2 fuel filter hose on affected 2023-2024 Kenworth trucks carries diesel fuel through the filter system before it reaches the engine. It is a fuel-carrying hose with quick-connect fittings, so it has to stay sealed while the engine is running and fuel is moving under pressure.
During engine production, the hose on certain engines was damaged when it snagged on a pallet on the assembly line. The damaged area was not always visible before the truck left production. PACCAR also traced the defect to a poor quality crimp, the metal clamp area that locks the hose to its fitting. If that crimp or hose damage lets go, the hose can leak diesel fuel or disconnect.
People in or around the truck can see smoke or other visible signs of a fuel leak. They can also smell diesel fuel before the hose leak or hose separation is found.

Covers the T280, T380, 536, 537, T480, and 548 across the 2023 and 2024 model years, all tied to the same fuel carrying hose.

What's the safety risk?
A disconnected hose will stall the engine, increasing crash risk. A fuel leak near an ignition source increases fire risk. Smoke or a diesel fuel smell around the vehicle is a warning sign. Treat it as a reason to stop and call the dealer before moving the vehicle again. Repair is free at any franchised Kenworth dealer.
