What's wrong?
The driveline on the 2023-2024 affected trucks carries engine power from the transmission toward the rear axle. At the rear of the transmission, a flange mounted yoke connects the driveline to the transmission output. Its bolts need both proper torque and thread locking adhesive, a compound that helps keep fasteners from backing out under vibration.
On these T280, 536, 537, T480, 548, and T380 trucks, the thread locking material was not applied to the yoke bolt threads on some units finished offline after production shortages. Without that locking feature, normal drivetrain vibration can work the fasteners loose. As the bolts loosen, the yoke joint loses clamping force and the driveline connection at the transmission becomes unstable.
The warning sign is vibration while driving at certain speeds. If you feel that vibration, especially from the driveline area, do not ignore it.
Who's affected?
Covers Kenworth T280, T380, and T480 plus Peterbilt 536, 537, and 548 trucks across the 2023-2024 model years, all tied to the same driveline fastener issue.

What's the safety risk?
Loose driveline fasteners can let the driveline separate from the truck, increasing the risk of a crash. Vibration at certain speeds is the warning sign to take seriously. If you feel it, pull over when safe and call the dealer. Repair is free at any franchised Kenworth dealer.
What should I do?
- Check your VIN to confirm your 2023-2024 Kenworth T280, 536, 537, T480, 548, or T380 truck is included in this recall.
- Contact a franchised Kenworth dealer to schedule the free adhesive thread-lock and fastener repair that secures the driveline yoke bolts.
- Bring the recall notice if you have it, and reference recall number 23V504 and PACCAR recall 23KWE or 23PBE when you call.
- Avoid heavy acceleration and get the repair completed before putting the truck back into regular service.
What happens at the repair
At the dealer, a Kenworth technician applies adhesive thread-lock to the flange mounted yoke bolt threads and replaces the affected driveline fasteners. Parts and labor are covered under the recall. PACCAR's general reimbursement plan on file covers eligible documented repairs tied to this recall. If you already paid for a related driveline fastener repair before the recall notice, ask the service desk or PACCAR customer service how to submit documentation under that plan.

Frequently asked questions
What is recall 23V504?
Recall 23V504 covers 72 2023-2024 Kenworth and Peterbilt trucks with driveline yoke fasteners that were built without adhesive thread-lock. The fasteners can loosen and let the driveline separate from the truck, increasing crash risk. Dealers will apply thread-lock and replace the fasteners for free.
What should I do if my 2023-2024 Kenworth or Peterbilt truck is on this recall?
Check your VIN to confirm your specific truck is included in recall 23V504. If it is, contact a franchised Kenworth or Peterbilt dealer and ask for the driveline fastener repair. Reference PACCAR recall numbers 23KWE or 23PBE when you call. The repair is free.
Is the recall repair free?
Yes. Federal recall law requires the manufacturer to repair the defect at no cost. For recall 23V504, dealers will apply adhesive thread-lock and replace the affected driveline fasteners free of charge at a franchised Kenworth or Peterbilt dealer.
What is the safety risk?
The risk is driveline separation. If the yoke fasteners loosen, the driveline can separate from the truck, which increases crash risk. Until your VIN is checked and the repair is complete, take any driveline noise, vibration, or looseness seriously and call the dealer service desk.
When were owners notified about recall 23V504?
PACCAR expected to mail owner notification letters on September 19, 2023. If you bought the truck used or never received a letter, the VIN still decides whether the recall applies. Check your VIN, then call the dealer with recall number 23V504.
