2021 Mvt-900a MVT-3001-G Recall 23V483: Fuel Hose Leak

Recall 23V483 covers 4 2021 Mvt-900a MVT-3001-G surveillance trailers for a fuel-hose clamp defect. Repair is free at any franchised Mvt-900a dealer.

Mvt-900a is recalling 4 2021 MVT-3001-G surveillance trailers equipped with certain Cummins Onan generator sets because weak clamp force on the fuel hose can allow gasoline to leak. A leak near an ignition source increases fire risk, and the dealer repair is free.

What's wrong?

The 2021 Mvt-900a MVT-3001-G surveillance trailer uses a Cummins Onan QG 2800i or Onan QG 2800i EVAP generator set for onboard power. A gasoline fuel hose runs between the inline fuel filter and the Injection Pump Module, the pump assembly that sends filtered fuel into the generator. That hose is supposed to stay sealed while fuel moves through the system.

On affected trailers, the hose specification did not give the connection enough clamp force. The hose connection can loosen enough for gasoline to leak between the filter and the Injection Pump Module. The remedy hose is a different part, identified by part number A073T925, so the dealer or service provider can replace the suspect hose with the corrected one.

The warning sign is visible gasoline or the smell of gasoline near the trailer or generator. If you notice either, keep people away from the area and tell the servicing dealer exactly what you saw or smelled.

A matching year and model does not guarantee inclusion. Check your VIN to confirm whether this recall applies to your specific vehicle.

What's the safety risk?

A gasoline leak near an ignition source increases the risk of fire. People nearby can see or smell gasoline, so treat any fuel odor or visible leak as a reason to stop in a safe place, keep ignition sources away, and call the dealer. Repair is free at any franchised Mvt-900a dealer.

What happens at the repair

At the dealer, a Mvt-900a technician inspects the fuel hose between the inline fuel filter and the Injection Pump Module, then replaces the fuel hose and clamps if the inspection shows they need replacement. The recall repair is free, including parts and labor. If you already paid for this fuel hose or clamp repair, Cummins says a recall-specific reimbursement plan is provided through the Recall Portal for units not covered by the manufacturer's limited warranty. Keep repair invoices and warranty paperwork for that claim.
