What's wrong?

The front brake caliper on the 2022 Yamaha Tenere 700 holds the brake pads around the front brake disc. When the rider squeezes the brake lever, brake fluid pressure moves pistons inside the caliper, and the pads clamp the disc to slow the motorcycle. The caliper bolts must keep that assembly fixed to its mount.

On affected motorcycles, the front caliper bolts were supplied with the wrong threaded length. If those bolts are removed and reinstalled during service, they can damage the threads inside the caliper mounting holes. Damaged mounting threads cannot grip the bolts as designed, and in the worst case the caliper no longer stays attached to its mount. If the caliper detaches, front braking ability is lost, increasing the risk of loss of control and a crash.

Owners can notice a clunking sound or feel from the front brake when the brake is lightly applied. A technician or owner servicing the front brake can also run into difficulty removing or reinstalling the caliper bolts.
