What's wrong?
The fuel delivery unit is the in-tank pump assembly that sends gasoline from the tank to the engine at the pressure the engine needs. Inside that unit, a small spinning impeller moves fuel through the pump. On the 2021-2023 Mercedes-Maybach vehicles in this recall, that pump has to keep fuel flow steady during normal driving and acceleration.
The problem is the impeller material. Because of a production process deviation at a sub-supplier, certain impellers did not meet Mercedes-Maybach material requirements. Those impellers can lose durability inside the fuel pump, and the pump can shut off. When that happens, the engine loses fuel supply and the vehicle loses drive power.
Before the pump shuts off, the instrument cluster can show a malfunction message. You can also feel the engine running rough, which is the warning sign Mercedes-Benz identified before the fuel pump stops working.
Who's affected?
Covers sedans, coupes, SUVs, roadsters, and GT models from 2021-2023 that use the same fuel delivery unit.

What happens at the repair
At the dealer, a Mercedes-Maybach technician replaces the fuel pump covered by recall 23V445. The replacement parts and labor are free under the recall. Out-of-pocket repairs already paid are handled through the new vehicle warranty, not through a separate reimbursement program, because these vehicles remain covered under warranty.
