Altec is recalling 3,824 1999-2022 L Series Aerial Device and Lr Series Aerial Device units under recall 23V433 because some units have a hydraulic hose where metallic tubing belongs between the cylinder port and load-holding valve. A damaged hose can defeat the load-holding feature, let the platform or load move unintentionally, and increase injury risk; Altec will complete the free repair.

What's wrong?
The hydraulic line on 1999-2022 Altec Lr Series Aerial Device and L Series Aerial Device units carries pressurized oil between the cylinder port and the load-holding valve. The cylinder port is the connection point on the lift cylinder, and the load-holding valve is the part that helps hold the platform or jib in position when hydraulic pressure changes.
On affected units, a flexible hydraulic hose was installed where rigid metallic tubing was specified. That location needs the stronger metal tube used in the remedy. If the hose is damaged, the load-holding feature can fail, and the platform or jib can move without control.
An inspector who knows metallic tubing belongs in that location can spot the wrong hose during periodic inspection. A nick, another witness mark, or an oil leak on the hose is the warning sign before uncontrolled motion.

What's the safety risk?
Failure of the load-holding feature can let the platform or load move unintentionally, increasing injury risk. During inspection, treat any nick, witness mark, or oil leak on the hydraulic hose as a reason to stop using the equipment and call for service. Schedule the Altec inspection and hose replacement soon. Repair is free at any franchised Altec dealer.
What should I do?
- Check your VIN to confirm your 1999-2022 Altec Lr Series Aerial Device or L Series Aerial Device is included in this recall.
- Contact a franchised Altec service location to schedule the free inspection and hydraulic-line repair.
- Schedule the hose replacement with metallic tubing if Altec finds a hydraulic hose between the cylinder port and load-holding valve.
- Bring the owner notice if you have it, and reference recall number 23V433 when you call.
- Keep the aerial device out of service until the repair is complete if the platform or load does not hold as expected.
What happens at the repair
At the dealer, an Altec technician inspects the aerial device for a hydraulic hose between the cylinder port and load-holding valve. If that hose is present, the technician replaces it with the specified metallic tubing. The inspection and any required replacement are free under the recall. Altec's Warranty Policy covers the recall remedy and reimbursement for owners who paid to fix this same problem before the owner letter. Bring documentation of the prior repair when you contact Altec customer service or the service desk.

Frequently asked questions
What is recall 23V433?
Recall 23V433 covers 3,824 1999-2022 Altec Lr Series Aerial Device and L Series Aerial Device units with a hydraulic hose installed where metallic tubing belongs. Hose damage can disable the load-holding feature, causing unintended platform or load movement and increasing injury risk. Altec will inspect and repair the unit for free.
What should I do if my 1999-2022 Altec Lr Series Aerial Device or L Series Aerial Device is on this recall?
Check your VIN to confirm your specific unit is included in recall 23V433. If it is, contact an Altec service location or Altec customer service at 1-877-462-5832 to arrange the inspection. Reference recall number 23V433 and Altec recall number CSN 3090 when you call.
Is the recall repair free?
Yes. Federal recall law requires the manufacturer to repair the defect at no cost. Altec will inspect the affected aerial device and replace the hydraulic hose with specified metallic tubing as needed, free of charge.
What is the safety risk?
The safety risk is unintended movement of the platform or load. If the hydraulic hose is damaged and the load-holding feature fails, the platform or load can move without command, increasing the risk of injury to operators or people nearby.
What if I bought my Altec aerial device used?
The free recall repair still applies. Recall coverage follows the unit, not the original owner. Check your VIN to confirm whether your specific Altec aerial device is included, then give the dealer or Altec service desk recall number 23V433 and CSN 3090.
