What's wrong?
The lug nuts on a 2023 Toyota Camry Hybrid or Camry clamp each wheel to the wheel hub. When they are tightened to the correct torque, they hold the wheel flat against the hub while the vehicle accelerates, brakes, and turns. The wheel depends on that clamping force to stay seated.
On affected vehicles, a third-party contractor did not complete the repair process at certain vehicle processing facilities. In some cases, the lug nuts were tightened far below the required force. Normal driving vibration and wheel load can then let the wheel move against the hub, and continued looseness can lead to wheel detachment.
There is no warning sign before failure. A dealer inspection found excessive wheel play and loose lug nuts in reported vehicles, but an owner should not rely on a sound or dashboard warning to catch this problem first.

What should I do?
- Check your VIN to confirm whether your 2023 Toyota Camry or Camry Hybrid is included in this recall.
- Do not drive the vehicle until the lug-nut repair is complete.
- Arrange a tow if the vehicle has to be moved to the dealer; do not drive it there yourself.
- Contact a franchised Toyota dealer to schedule the free lug-nut inspection and tightening that fixes the loose wheel fasteners; the dealer will replace damaged components.
- Bring the owner notice if Toyota mailed one. If not, reference recall number 23V432 and Toyota recall 23TA05 when you call.
What happens at the repair
Do not drive the vehicle until the recall repair is complete. At the dealer, a Toyota technician inspects the lug nuts, tightens them to the proper specification, and replaces any damaged wheel or lug nut components. Parts and labor are covered under the recall. Toyota has a general reimbursement plan on file. If you've already paid for the same lug nut or wheel repair, bring your repair paperwork and receipts to the service desk and ask how to submit them under Toyota's plan.
