2021-2023 L'Air Camper Trillium/Lion Recall 23V408: Cooktop

Recall 23V408 covers 25 2021-2023 L'Air Camper Trillium Heritage and Lion trailers for gas-leaking cooktop tubes. Free repair at franchised dealers.

L'Air Camper is recalling 25 2021-2023 Trillium Heritage 1300, Trillium Heritage 4500, Lion 1300, and Lion 4500 travel trailers because the SDS2 2-Burner Drop-in Cooktop has internal aluminum burner tubes that can fracture and leak gas. A gas leak near an ignition source increases fire risk, and L'Air Camper dealers will complete the repair free of charge.

What's wrong?

The Suburban SDS2 2-Burner Drop-in Cooktop is the built-in cooking appliance in certain 2021-2023 L'Air Camper Trillium Heritage 1300, Trillium Heritage 4500, Lion 1300, and Lion 4500 travel trailers. Its internal aluminum burner tubes carry gas from the control valves to the burners, so the flame gets fuel only when the cooktop is in use. Those tubes have to stay sealed while the trailer moves, heats, cools, and vibrates.

In the recalled cooktops, the aluminum burner tubes that connect to the gas valves can fracture. Once a tube cracks, gas escapes inside the cooktop instead of traveling cleanly to the burner. Suburban provided a field recall kit with a bracket assembly to correct the issue, which points to the tube connection needing added support.

There is no warning sign before failure. Do not rely on a smell, a sound, or burner behavior to decide whether the cooktop is safe.

Who's affected?

Covers four L'Air Camper trailer models from 2021, 2022, and 2023, all using the same 2 burner cooktop.

What's the safety risk?

A gas leak near an ignition source increases the risk of fire. Until the regulator support bracket is installed, avoid using open flames or other ignition sources around the trailer if you smell gas, and schedule the recall repair soon. Repair is free at any franchised L'Air Camper dealer.

  2. Contact a franchised L'Air Camper dealer to schedule the free regulator support bracket installation for the SDS2 cooktop gas-leak risk.
  3. Avoid using the SDS2 cooktop until the bracket repair is complete.
  4. Bring any recall notice L'Air Camper mailed, or reference recall number 23V408 when you call.
