Recall 23V397 covers 6,786 International Mv, Durastar, 1300FBC, Tc, and Ce vehicles for brake-pressure-switch leaks. Park outside. Free repair at a franchised International dealer.
An electrical short in the brake pressure switch can overheat the circuit and increase the risk of a fire while driving or parked. Park outside and away from structures until the recall repair is complete. If the service brake system warning light appears, call the dealer before driving again. Repair is free at any franchised International dealer.
International is recalling 6,786 2016, 2018, 2019, 2020, 2021, 2022, 2023, and 2024 Mv, Durastar, 1300FBC, Tc, and Ce vehicles because the brake pressure switch assembly can leak brake fluid into electrical components and short circuit. The short can overheat the circuit and increase the risk of a fire while driving or parked, so owners should park outside and away from structures until an International dealer completes the free repair.

What's wrong?
The brake pressure switch assembly on the recalled 2016, 2018, 2019, 2020, 2021, 2022, 2023, and 2024 International Mv, Durastar, 1300FBC, Tc, and Ce vehicles is part of the hydraulic brake system. It reads brake pressure and sends that information through electrical components so the brake system can monitor pressure and alert the driver when something is wrong.
In the recalled switch assembly, a zinc nickel plating and sealant were used to help prevent corrosion. That sealant can delaminate during assembly, leaving small fragments under the diaphragm inside the switch. Those fragments let brake fluid slowly seep past the seal and into the switch's electrical components, where the fluid can cause a short circuit.
The warning sign listed for this condition is a service brake system malfunction indicator lamp. If that light comes on, treat it as brake-system fault information and have the vehicle inspected by an International dealer.

What happens at the repair
At the dealer, an International technician replaces the brake pressure switch, then replaces the wire harness or fuse as needed. Parts and labor are free under the recall. Until that work is complete, park outside and away from structures. Navistar's standard reimbursement plan applies to qualifying repairs paid before the owner notification. Follow the reimbursement instructions included in the customer notification, and bring documentation for any related out-of-pocket repair.
