What's wrong?
The SDS2 2-Burner Drop-in Cooktop in affected 2020-2023 Elite Horse Trailer, Sprinter, and Dodge Ram Rca builds uses aluminum burner tubes inside the appliance. Those tubes connect the gas valves at the control knobs to the burners. When the cooktop is working correctly, gas moves through the tubes only after the valve is turned on, then reaches the burner for ignition.
On affected units, the gas manifold near the control knobs can loosen as the trailer or van vibrates in normal use. That movement puts repeated impact on the aluminum burner tubes. Over time, the metal can harden and fracture, which lets gas leak from the cooktop when the valve is opened.
Owners can notice a louder than normal hissing sound or a propane smell when the cooktop gas valve is turned on. The cooktop control knob can also feel loose or become hard to operate.

What's the safety risk?

What happens at the repair
At the dealer, a Dodge technician inspects the SDS2 burner tube setup on the cooktop. The dealer installs a support bracket, or replaces the burner tubes or stove when the inspection shows those parts need replacement. The recall repair is free, with parts and labor covered. The work addresses burner tubes that can fracture at the gas valves and allow a gas leak.

Recall 23V320 covers 317 2020-2023 Elite Horse Trailer, Sprinter, and Dodge Ram Rca vehicles equipped with certain SDS2 2-Burner Drop-in Cooktops. The internal aluminum burner tubes can fracture and leak gas. Dealers will install a support bracket, replace burner tubes, or replace the stove for free.
What should I do if my 2020-2023 Elite Horse Trailer, Sprinter, or Dodge Ram Rca is on this recall?
Check your VIN to confirm your specific vehicle is included in recall 23V320. If it is, contact the dealer handling the recall or Outback customer service at 1-405-745-6666. Ask for the free cooktop bracket installation, burner tube replacement, or stove replacement.
Is the recall repair free?
Yes. Federal recall law requires the manufacturer to repair the defect at no cost, and the recall remedy says dealers will install a support bracket, replace burner tubes, or replace the stove free of charge.
What is the safety risk?
