Recall 23V282 affects 9,170 2017-2023 International Cv trucks for a brake-pressure-switch short. Park outside. Free repair at any franchised International dealer.
An electrical short in the brake pressure switch increases the risk of fire while the vehicle is being driven or parked. Until the repair is complete, park outside and away from structures, and call the dealer if the service brake system light appears. Repair is free at any franchised International dealer.
International is recalling 9,170 2017-2023 International Cv trucks because the brake pressure switch assembly can leak brake fluid into its electrical components and short circuit. That short can overheat the circuit and increase the risk of a fire while driving or parked, so owners should park outside and away from structures until an International dealer completes the free repair.

What's wrong?
The brake pressure switch assembly on 2017-2023 International Cv trucks is part of the hydraulic brake system with a Hydromax brake booster. It senses brake pressure and uses electrical contacts to report system status, so the truck can monitor brake operation and warn the driver when a fault is detected.
In recalled assemblies, a zinc nickel plating and corrosion-inhibiting sealant were used inside the pressure switch assembly. The sealant can delaminate during assembly, leaving small sealer fragments under the diaphragm, which is the flexible seal that separates brake fluid from the switch's electrical parts. Those fragments let brake fluid seep past the seal. Fluid inside the electrical side can create a short-circuit.
The warning sign listed for this recall is a "service brake system" malfunction indicator lamp. If that light appears on an affected Cv truck, treat it as a brake-system fault and have the truck checked through the recall repair path.
Who's affected?
The same parking brake pressure switch assembly appears across the 2017-2023 International Cv scope.

What happens at the repair
Until the repair is complete, keep the truck parked outside and away from structures. At the dealer, an International technician replaces the brake pressure switch assembly. The technician also replaces the wire harness or fuse when leak or short-circuit damage calls for it. Parts and labor are free under the recall. Navistar's reimbursement plan applies to qualifying repairs paid before the owner letter. Follow the reimbursement instructions in the customer notification and keep repair orders, invoices, and proof of payment with your service paperwork.
