What's wrong?
The body wiring harness on 2003-2023 Savana and Express Cutaway Van incomplete vehicles includes wiring for an optional rear HVAC blower motor. That blower motor moves air through a rear heating and air-conditioning system when one is installed. The wiring should carry power only through sealed connectors that keep moisture away from the circuit.
On affected vehicles, the rear HVAC blower motor wiring at the left side B-pillar was supplied even when the rear HVAC system was not used. Exposed connectors or cut wires were left unsealed. Moisture can reach the circuit, corrosion builds up, and electrical resistance turns into excessive heat. GM found that this condition can lead to a fire.
There is no warning sign before failure. An owner should not count on a light, smell, noise, or blower problem to appear before the circuit overheats.
