What's wrong?
The windshield wiper arm on affected 2020-2022 Freightliner M2, S2C, S2RV, S2G, 108SD, and 114SD vehicles is the metal arm that moves the wiper blade across the windshield. Its linkage and arm head transfer motion from the wiper motor so the blade clears rain, spray, and road grime from the driver's view.
On these vehicles, the suspect wiper arm head can wear and break. When that happens, the linkage no longer moves the blade correctly, and the windshield wipers fail to clear the glass. Freightliner traced the issue to vehicles equipped with the suspect wiper arm heads built within the listed production ranges.
What you notice can show up during a pre-trip inspection. If the wipers are turned on before driving, a broken or failing arm should be detectable because the blade will not sweep the windshield correctly.

What's the safety risk?
Inoperative windshield wipers reduce visibility in rain, snow, or road spray and increase the risk of a crash. Check wiper operation during the pre-trip inspection. If the wipers fail, keep the vehicle out of service and contact the dealer. Repair is free at any franchised Freightliner dealer.

What happens at the repair
At the dealer, a Freightliner technician inspects the windshield wiper arm and linkage parts and replaces the covered parts that need replacement. The recall repair is free, with parts and labor covered. DTNA used its general reimbursement plan on file for owners who already paid for related wiper arm or linkage repairs before the recall notice. Frequently asked questions
What is recall 23V237?
Recall 23V237 covers 57,504 2020-2022 Freightliner M2, S2C, S2RV, S2G, 108SD, and 114SD vehicles with windshield wiper linkages that can break and stop the wipers from working. Dealers will inspect and replace the affected windshield wiper arm and linkage parts for free.
What should I do if my 2020-2022 Freightliner M2, S2C, S2RV, S2G, 108SD, or 114SD is on this recall?
Check your VIN to confirm your specific vehicle is included in recall 23V237. If it is, contact a franchised Freightliner dealer to schedule the windshield wiper linkage inspection and repair. Reference recall number 23V237000 or Freightliner recall FL969 when you call.
Is the recall repair free?
Yes. Federal recall law requires the manufacturer to repair the defect at no cost, and Freightliner dealers will inspect and replace the windshield wiper arm and linkage parts, as needed, free of charge.
What is the safety risk?
The risk is reduced visibility if the windshield wipers stop working in rain, snow, spray, or other poor driving conditions. That loss of visibility increases crash risk. If your VIN is included, arrange the free dealer inspection and repair before relying on the vehicle in bad weather.
When were owners notified about recall 23V237?
Owner notification letters were mailed on June 2, 2023. A missed letter does not decide whether the recall applies, especially for a used or fleet vehicle. Check your VIN, then call a franchised Freightliner dealer with recall number 23V237000 or FL969.
