What's wrong?
The park valve module on 2023-2024 Peterbilt 579 trucks is part of the electronic parking brake system. When the driver pulls the park switch, the module routes air pressure so the spring brakes apply and hold the truck in the parked position. It is the air-brake valve that turns the switch command into brake action.
On affected trucks, mechanical parts inside the valve module sit at the high end of their design limits. When those parts stack together in the wrong direction, too much air leaks inside the module. The pilot solenoid then cannot build pressure correctly, so the valve stays in the un-parked position even after the park switch is pulled.
The warning signs are on the switch and in the sound of the air system. The park indicator LEDs stay off after the switch is pulled, and the normal air exhaust sound is absent. Those signs mean the spring brakes have not exhausted and the truck is not parked.
Who's affected?
Covers a two-model-year span for the 579, tied to the same parking brake component.

The year and model narrow the scope, but the VIN decides. Check your VIN to confirm whether your specific truck is included.
What's the safety risk?
If the park valve module fails to move into park, the truck can roll away and increase the risk of a crash. If the park switch LEDs stay off after you pull the switch, or you do not hear the normal air exhaust sound, treat the truck as not parked and secure it. Repair will be free at any franchised Peterbilt dealer once available.
