2022 Eveland Scamp Recall 23V157: Cooktop Gas Leak

Recall 23V157 affects 25 2022 Eveland Scamp travel trailers for damaged 2-burner cooktop valves. Cooktop replacement will be free once available.

Eveland is recalling 25 2022 Scamp 13ft travel trailers with certain 2-burner cooktops because damaged burner control valves can leak gas. A gas leak near an ignition source raises the risk of fire, and the Eveland dealer repair will be free once the company makes the remedy available.

What's wrong?

The 2-burner Dometic cooktop in the 2022 Eveland Scamp uses burner control valves to meter propane to each burner. When you turn a knob, the valve opens or closes the gas flow so the burner receives the right amount of fuel for ignition and cooking. The valve has to seal fully when the burner is off.

On affected trailers, the burner control valve can become damaged. Once the valve is damaged, it does not seal the gas path as designed. That failure lets gas leak from the cooktop area instead of staying contained inside the appliance.

The filing does not list an owner-noticeable symptom before the valve is damaged. There is no warning sign before failure. Treat the cooktop as suspect until the recall repair addresses the affected burner control valve.

Not every 2022 Eveland Scamp trailer is on the list. Check your VIN to confirm whether your specific trailer is included.

What's the safety risk?

A gas leak near the cooktop can ignite if it meets a spark, flame, or other ignition source, increasing the risk of a fire. Until the recall repair is available, keep ignition sources away from the cooktop area and contact Eveland for remedy timing. Repair will be free at any franchised Eveland dealer once available.

What should I do?

  1. Check your VIN to confirm your 2022 Eveland Scamp is included in this recall.
  2. Call Eveland customer service at 1-218-947-4932 to confirm current instructions for the free Dometic cooktop replacement.
  3. Avoid using the 2-burner cooktop until the burner-control-valve issue that can cause a gas leak is repaired.
  4. Keep the owner letter with your trailer records. If you did not receive one, reference recall number 23V157 when you call Eveland.

What happens at the repair

The final dealer repair is not open yet. Once Eveland opens it, an Eveland technician will work with Dometic to replace the affected cooktop in the 2022 Scamp trailer. The replacement parts and labor will be free under the recall. Until that repair opens, contact Eveland customer service for the current repair path and ask how they are coordinating the Dometic cooktop replacement.
