Coachmen is recalling 19 motorhomes from 2013, 2023, including Cross Country and Sportscoach models, because the entry door latch can fail and block entry or exit. That defect can prevent people from getting in or out during an emergency and increase injury risk; Coachmen dealers will complete the free latch repair.

What's wrong?
The Global LK702 entry door latch on the 2013, 2023 Coachmen Sportscoach and Cross Country motorhomes is the handle and latch assembly that holds the main entry door closed and releases it when the handle is pulled. It is also the normal way people get into and out of the living area, so the latch has to release from both sides of the door.
The problem is inside the latch handle. A vendor changed the handle design to make the retaining ring groove more secure, but that change weakened an attachment point in the latch. If that point fails, the handle does not release the door latch correctly. The door can stay latched when someone is trying to enter or exit.
There is no warning sign before failure. The latch can work normally until the attachment point breaks, so do not treat a normal-feeling handle as proof that the recalled part is safe.
Who's affected?
The scope is split between the 2023 Sportscoach and the 2013 Cross Country, both using the Global LK702 entry door latch.

A matching year and model does not guarantee inclusion. Check your VIN to confirm whether your specific motorhome is included.
What's the safety risk?
A faulty door latch can keep someone from entering or exiting the vehicle during an emergency, and this increases the risk of injury. There is no warning sign before the latch fails, so check your VIN and schedule the inspection soon if included. Repair is free at any franchised Coachmen dealer.

What happens at the repair
At the dealer, a Coachmen technician inspects the entry door latch and replaces it if the latch is part of the defect. The inspection, replacement latch, and labor are free under the recall. If you've already paid out of pocket for an entry door latch repair before the recall notice, Coachmen's standard reimbursement plan covers documented repair expenses. Bring repair paperwork and payment records to the service desk so the claim can be reviewed.
