Recall 23V120 covers 27,972 2022-2024 International Mv, Hv, and Tc vehicles for unexpected movement. Free ECM software update at franchised International dealers.
International is recalling 27,972 2022-2024 Mv, Hv trucks and Tc buses because the engine can rev when the stationary PTO switch is engaged while the transmission is in drive or reverse. That force can overcome the parking brake, causing unexpected movement that raises crash or injury risk; International dealers will complete the free repair.

What's wrong?
The engine control module software on the 2022-2024 International Mv, Tc, and Hv controls engine speed and how the power take-off, or PTO, operates when the vehicle is parked. A stationary PTO lets equipment run from engine power while the truck or bus is not being driven. The parking brake is supposed to hold the vehicle in place while that work happens.
In recall 23V120, the software parameter for the PTO neutral interlock was not turned on. That interlock is the setting that keeps stationary PTO operation tied to neutral. If the parking brake is applied, the transmission is still in drive or reverse, and the PTO switch is engaged, the engine can rev high enough to overcome the parking brake and move the vehicle.
There is no warning sign before failure. The difference is in the software setting: the updated calibration has the PTO neutral interlock enabled, and the previous calibration did not.
