What's wrong?
The Suburban SDS2 2-burner drop-in cooktop in affected 2021-2024 Safari Condo Alto travel trailers uses propane gas valves and burner tubes to feed the burners. When a control knob is turned on, gas moves through the valve and tube to the burner, where it mixes with air and lights at the cooking surface.
On these trailers, vibration can loosen the gas manifold at the control knobs over time. Once that connection moves, the internal aluminum burner tubes can fracture. A fractured tube lets propane escape inside or near the cooktop instead of feeding the burner correctly.
Owners can notice a louder hissing sound or propane smell when the cooktop gas valve is turned to the on position. The flame height can look lower than normal, and the cooktop control knob can feel loose or become hard to operate.
Who's affected?
Spans the 2021, 2022, 2023, and 2024 model years, all using the same 2 burner cooktop.

What's the safety risk?
A propane gas leak near an ignition source increases the risk of a fire. If you smell propane, hear louder hissing when the cooktop valve is on, see a low flame, or find the control knob loose or hard to turn, stop using the cooktop and contact a dealer. Repair will be free at any franchised Safari Condo dealer once available.

What happens at the repair
At the dealer, a Safari Condo technician will inspect the burner tubes in the SDS2 2-burner drop-in cooktop and repair the cooktop if the tubes are cracked or leaking. Because the remedy is still listed as under development, the final dealer repair will be free once available. Do not treat this as a scheduled repair until the dealer confirms parts and instructions are open. Safari Condo has a general reimbursement plan on file for this recall. If you paid for a related burner tube or gas leak repair before the recall notice, ask customer service or the service desk how to submit documented expenses.
