Mercedes-Benz is recalling 350 2022 Sprinter 2500, Sprinter 3500, Sprinter 1500, and Sprinter 4500 vans equipped with electrically adjustable front swivel seats because the seat wiring harnesses can be damaged after incorrect installation. What's wrong?
The wiring harness in these 2022 Mercedes-Benz Sprinter vans is the bundle of electrical wires routed through the front swivel-seat frame. It carries power and signals for the electrically adjustable seat, and it also supports the restraint system circuits tied to the front side airbags. The harness has to stay clear of moving seat parts as the seat turns and adjusts.
On affected Sprinters, the harness on the rotary seat frame was routed with too little length near the seat adjustment motor. When the front swivel seat is adjusted, the motor can contact the harness retaining clip and damage the wiring over time. Damaged wiring can interfere with the side airbag circuit, so the front side airbags do not deploy as intended in a crash.
There is no warning sign before the wiring damage happens. Once the issue is present, the driver can see the SRS warning lamp illuminated in the instrument cluster.
Who's affected?
The scope spans Sprinter 2500, Sprinter 3500, Sprinter 1500, and Sprinter 4500 vans, with the main line kit listed under both wiring and side air bag components.

What's the safety risk?
When the air bag wiring harness is loose, the air bag can fail to deploy as intended, increasing injury risk in a crash. There is no advance warning before the failure; an illuminated SRS indicator lamp means the issue is active. Schedule the inspection soon. Repair is free at any franchised Mercedes-Benz dealer.

What happens at the repair
At the dealer, a Mercedes-Benz technician inspects the electrically adjustable front swivel-seat wiring harness installation and reattaches any harness that is not secured correctly. The inspection and repair are free under the recall. If you already paid to have this recall condition corrected, Mercedes-Benz's reimbursement process covers eligible documented costs, including parts, labor, fees, and taxes, up to the amount the repair would have cost at an authorized Sprinter dealer. Bring invoices and proof of payment to the service desk.
