Recall 23V049 affects 9,720 2020-2023 Winnebago Travato, Ekko, and Solis motorhomes for cooktop gas leaks. Repair will be free once available.
Winnebago is recalling 9,720 2020-2023 Solis, Travato, and Ekko motorhomes because internal aluminum burner tubes in certain Suburban SDS2 2-burner cooktops can fracture and leak gas. A gas leak near an ignition source can increase the risk of a fire, and the dealer repair will be free once Winnebago makes it available.

What's wrong?
The SDS2 2-Burner Drop-in Cooktop in affected 2020-2023 Winnebago Solis, Travato, and Ekko motorhomes uses propane gas valves and burner tubes to feed fuel from the control knobs to the burners. When you turn a knob on, the valve opens and gas moves through the internal aluminum tube so the burner can light and hold a controlled flame.
On these cooktops, the gas manifold at the control knobs can loosen as the motorhome vibrates during travel. That movement lets the internal aluminum burner tubes take repeated impact. The tubes can harden and fracture, which opens a path for propane to leak near the controls instead of staying contained inside the cooktop.
Owners can hear a louder hissing sound or smell propane when a cooktop gas valve is turned on. The control knob can also feel loose or become hard to turn. Those are warning signs that the cooktop needs dealer attention before further use.

What's the safety risk?
A propane gas leak near an ignition source raises the risk of a fire. If you smell propane, hear louder hissing at the cooktop, or the cooktop knob feels loose or hard to turn, shut the gas off and arrange service before using the cooktop again. Repair will be free at any franchised Winnebago dealer once available.
What should I do?
- Check your VIN to confirm your 2020-2023 Winnebago Travato, Ekko, or Solis motorhome is included in this recall.
- Use the Winnebago owner letter mailed March 31, 2023, for repair instructions; call Winnebago customer service if you did not receive it.
- Contact a franchised Winnebago dealer before using the cooktop to ask about the free Suburban cooktop repair.
- Reference recall number 23V049 when you call so the dealer can find the gas-leak cooktop repair tied to the burner tubes.
- Avoid using the cooktop until the repair is complete, because fractured burner tubes can leak gas near an ignition source.
What happens at the repair
The final dealer repair is still being developed. Once it is available, Winnebago will work with Suburban to repair the SDS2 2 Burner Drop in Cooktop, free of charge. At the dealer, a Winnebago technician or authorized service team will address the cooktop burner tube condition that allows gas to leak. Parts and labor are covered under the recall. Winnebago has a general reimbursement plan on file for documented eligible expenses already paid before the recall notice, so keep repair paperwork for the claim process.
