Recall 23V022 covers 382,759 2020-2023 Lincoln Aviator, Explorer, and Corsair vehicles for rearview camera failure. Repair is free at any franchised Lincoln dealer.
Lincoln is recalling 382,759 2020-2023 Aviator, Explorer, and Corsair vehicles equipped with a 360-degree camera because the video output can fail and leave the rearview camera image blank. Loss of that image reduces rear visibility and increases crash risk, and Lincoln dealers will update the camera software free of charge.

What's wrong?
The 360-degree camera system on the 2020-2023 Aviator, Explorer, and Corsair uses cameras and an Image Processing Module B, or IPMB, to build the view shown on the center screen. When the vehicle is shifted into reverse, that system is supposed to display the rearview camera image so the driver can see behind the vehicle.
On affected vehicles, the IPMB detects missing video frames and responds by showing a blue image instead of restarting the camera video feed. Ford says it and its suppliers are still investigating why the video frames are lost. The updated IPMB software changes that response so the camera reinitializes when the loss is detected.
There is no warning sign before failure. The driver learns about the problem when the rearview image does not display and the screen shows the blue image instead.

What's the safety risk?
A lost rearview camera image leaves the driver with less visibility behind the vehicle and increases the risk of a crash. There is no warning sign before the image is lost, so rely on mirrors and schedule the software update. Repair is free at any franchised Lincoln dealer.
What should I do?
- Check your VIN to confirm your 2020-2023 Lincoln Aviator, Explorer, or Corsair is included in this recall.
- Contact a franchised Lincoln dealer to schedule the free image processing module software update that fixes the rearview camera display failure.
- Bring the recall notice if you have it, and reference recall number 23V022 when you call.
- Ask the dealer to confirm the new remedy was performed if the vehicle was previously repaired under recall 21V735.
- Use extra care when reversing until the repair is complete because the rearview camera image can fail.
What happens at the repair
At the dealer, a Lincoln technician updates the image processing module software that controls the camera video output. Parts and labor are covered under the recall, and vehicles previously repaired under 21V-735 still need this new software remedy. Ford's general reimbursement plan covers documented remedy costs paid by owners before the recall notice, with eligibility ending March 10, 2023. If you already paid for a related camera repair, bring your repair order and payment documentation to the service desk or contact Ford customer service.

Frequently asked questions
What is recall 23V022?
Recall 23V022 covers 382,759 2020-2023 Lincoln Aviator, Explorer, and Corsair vehicles with a 360-degree camera system. The video output can fail and stop the rearview camera image from displaying, reducing rear visibility and increasing crash risk. What should I do if my 2020-2023 Lincoln Aviator, Explorer, or Corsair is on this recall?
Check your VIN to confirm your specific vehicle is included in recall 23V022. If it is, contact a franchised Lincoln dealer to schedule the image processing module software update. Reference recall number 23V022 and Ford recall number 23S02 when you call. The repair is free.
Is the recall repair free?
Yes. Federal recall law requires the manufacturer to repair the safety defect at no cost. Lincoln dealers will update the image processing module software free of charge, including vehicles previously repaired under recall 21V735 that need the new remedy performed.
