What's wrong?
The Electronic Hydraulic Control Unit, or EHCU, is the brake control module on affected 2022-2023 Low Cab Forward 5500, N-Series, and S52 trucks. It helps run the hydraulic service brakes, anti-lock braking system, electronic stability control, and automatic emergency braking. Trucks equipped with the advanced driver assistance system also use a forward camera to read the road ahead for driver-assist functions.
These trucks were built with a factory frame modification that stretched the wheelbase from 176 inches to 200 or 212 inches. After that change, the ABS module and, when equipped, the ADAS camera were not recalibrated for the longer frame. That means the brake and driver-assist controls are using settings for a shorter truck, not the modified length.
An owner does not get a dashboard message or other clear warning tied to this calibration problem. There is no warning sign before failure.
Who's affected?
Covers three truck lines across the 2022 and 2023 model years, all tied to the same electronic hydraulic control unit.

What's the safety risk?
An improperly calibrated ADAS camera and ABS module can keep the Automatic Emergency Braking System and Electronic Steering Control System from working properly, increasing the risk of a crash. Do not rely on those driver-assistance systems to compensate for delayed reactions or unsafe following distance. Schedule the recalibration soon. Repair is free at any franchised Chevrolet dealer.
What should I do?
- Check your VIN to confirm your 2022-2023 Chevrolet Low Cab Forward 5500, N-Series, or S52 is included in this recall.
- Contact a franchised Chevrolet dealer to schedule the free ADAS camera and ABS module recalibration that corrects the AEB and ESC setup after the stretched-frame modification.
- Bring the recall notice if you have it. If not, reference recall number 23V017 when you call.
- Drive cautiously until the software update is complete. Leave extra following distance and do not rely on automatic emergency braking or electronic stability control as a substitute for careful driving.
- Call Chevrolet customer service at 1-866-441-9638 with recall questions before your dealer visit.
What happens at the repair
At the dealer, a Chevrolet technician recalibrates the ABS module and, if the vehicle has the optional ADAS camera, recalibrates that camera too. The update makes the safety systems account for the extended 200-inch or 212-inch wheelbase. The recall repair is free, including the software work and labor. Schedule the recall with a Chevrolet dealer and give the service desk Isuzu recall number V2301 if they ask for the campaign reference.
