What's wrong?
The rear axle differential housing on the 2022 Mercedes-Benz AMG G63 is the metal case around the rear differential. The differential sends engine power through the rear axle and lets the rear wheels turn at different speeds in a corner. Its housing also keeps gear oil inside, so the gears stay lubricated under load.
On affected vehicles, a supplier process deviation left the housing short of Mercedes-Benz strength requirements. During operation, stress in the housing can start a fracture. If the housing cracks, oil can leak onto the road and the differential can lose lubrication. If the housing breaks, the rear axle can lose drive power and rear wheel control.
The driver will not receive a warning before this failure because of the way the housing fractures. There is no warning sign before failure.

What should I do?
- Check your VIN to confirm your 2022 Mercedes-Benz AMG G63 is included in this recall.
- Do not drive the vehicle until Mercedes-Benz confirms the rear axle differential housing has been inspected and remedied.
- Arrange a tow through the MBUSA Customer Assistance Center if the vehicle has to move; do not drive it to the dealer yourself.
- Contact an authorized Mercedes-Benz dealer for the free rear axle inspection and replacement, as needed, to address the differential housing that can crack, leak oil, or break.
- Bring the owner letter if you have it. If not, reference recall number 22V937 when you call.
What happens at the repair
Do not drive the vehicle until the remedy is complete. While the final dealer repair remains under development, the MBUSA Customer Assistance Center assists owners with towing arrangements to an authorized Mercedes-Benz dealer for inspection. Once the repair opens, a Mercedes-Benz technician will inspect the rear axle and replace it if the differential housing is cracked or damaged. Parts, labor, towing, and loaner vehicles or alternate transportation, where available, are offered at no cost. Out-of-pocket repairs already paid are handled through the new vehicle warranty, not through a separate reimbursement program, because the involved vehicles remain under warranty. Ask the service desk how warranty coverage applies if you have prior repair paperwork.

Recall 22V937 covers 278 2022 Mercedes-Benz AMG G63 4x4-squared vehicles with a rear axle differential housing that can crack, leak oil, or break. A break can cause loss of rear wheel control and drive power. Do not drive until the vehicle is remedied.
What should I do if my 2022 Mercedes-Benz AMG G63 is on this recall?
Check your VIN to confirm your specific vehicle is included in recall 22V937. If it is, do not drive it. Contact Mercedes-Benz customer service at 1-800-367-6372 or an authorized Mercedes-Benz dealer to arrange towing for inspection and repair.
Is the recall repair free?
Yes. Federal recall law requires manufacturers to repair safety defects at no cost. Mercedes-Benz dealers will inspect and replace the rear axle as needed for free. The recall filing also says towing and loaner vehicles or alternate transportation are offered at no cost to the customer.
What does 'do not drive' mean for this Mercedes-Benz recall?
