What's wrong?
The refrigerator circuit in the 2023 Forest River Wildwood, Stealth Evo, and Salem travel trailers uses an 8-gauge wire to carry battery power to the 12-Volt refrigerator. That wire needs over-current protection, through an in-line fuse, so excess electrical current is stopped before the wire overheats.
On affected trailers, the in-line fuse was not installed during manufacturing. Without that fuse between the battery and refrigerator circuit, a short or overload leaves the 8-gauge wire without the protection it was designed to have. The wire then heats beyond its safe range and melts, damaging the refrigerator wiring and the surrounding electrical path.
There is no warning sign before failure. Owners should not expect a dashboard alert, appliance message, or visible symptom before the wire overheats.
Who's affected?
Covers the Wildwood, Stealth Evo, and Salem trailer lines, all with the same refrigerator inline fuse.

What's the safety risk?
Melted wiring can create an electrical short and increase the risk of a fire. There is no warning sign before failure, so treat the VIN result as the decision point and schedule the repair soon if your VIN is included. Repair is free at any franchised Forest River dealer.
What should I do?
- Check your VIN to confirm your 2023 Forest River Wildwood, Stealth Evo, or Salem travel trailer is included in this recall.
- Contact a franchised Forest River dealer to schedule the free 20-AMP mini-breaker installation that adds over-current protection to the refrigerator wiring.
- Bring the recall notice if Forest River mailed one. If not, reference recall number 22V920 when you call.
- Avoid using the 12-Volt refrigerator until the repair is complete, since the unprotected wire can melt and short.
What happens at the repair
At the dealer, a Forest River dealer technician installs a 20 amp mini breaker to add overcurrent protection for the refrigerator wiring. The recall repair is free. The inspection still matters if you already paid for a related repair, because Forest River wants the correct parts and procedures confirmed. For reimbursement, send the service invoice to Salem/Wildwood Forest River, Inc., Attn: Warranty Manager, 1429 South East Uglow, Dallas, OR 97338. Refunds are limited to repairs within the scope of this defect under recall.
