What's wrong?
On 2020-2021 Hyundai Translead Reefer Trailer and Dry Van Trailer units, the Haldex ModulT Gen II air disc brake uses brake pads clamped against a rotor to slow the trailer. A pad retainer, spring bracket, and retaining clip hold each pad in its correct position so the pad stays aligned with the rotor as the brake applies and releases.
In the affected brake assemblies, the retaining clip was installed improperly. That lets the spring bracket and pad retainer loosen or detach from the brake. Once those parts move out of place, the brake pad itself loosens, braking effectiveness drops, and the loose pad can cut a tire valve, damage the pad or wheel, or send detached parts into the roadway as debris.
There is no warning sign before failure. A driver or fleet technician should not rely on noise, brake feel, or a dashboard message to catch this problem before the pad retaining assembly comes apart.
Who's affected?
Covers both Reefer Trailer and Dry Van Trailer models from the 2020 and 2021 model years, all using Haldex ModulT Gen II air disc brakes.

A matching year and trailer model does not guarantee inclusion. Check your VIN to confirm whether this recall applies to your specific trailer.
What's the safety risk?
A detached retaining clip or bracket can damage the brake pad, reduce brake performance, damage a tire valve, cause a flat tire, or fall into traffic as a road hazard. That raises crash risk for the trailer and nearby drivers. Schedule the repair soon and avoid hauling if braking feels abnormal or a tire valve area looks damaged. Repair is free at any franchised Hyundai Translead dealer.

What happens at the repair
At the dealer, a Hyundai Translead technician repairs the spring bracket assembly tied to the brake pad retaining assembly, then confirms the brake pad hardware is secure. Parts and labor are free under the recall. Hyundai Translead has a general reimbursement plan on file for owners who already paid for this recall repair. Bring documentation of the paid repair and ask the service desk how to submit it under that plan.
