What's wrong?
The electric retractable awning on a 2022 Old School Trailer is the fabric shade mounted along the side of the trailer. Its motor rolls the awning out for shade and rolls it back tight against the trailer body for travel. The fabric and roll have to stay joined so the awning stops where it is designed to stop.
On affected trailers, the Lippert awning has a welded fabric joint that separates. Old School Trailers traced the issue to suspect awnings supplied by Lippert and used shipment information to identify the trailers that received them. When that weld separates, the awning no longer stays controlled at the end of the roll and drops beyond normal operation.
The warning sign is visible. Look for a partial weld separation at the end of the awning roll along the side of the trailer. If that separation is present, the awning has started to fail.
