What's wrong?

The front amber side reflex reflector is built into the right front headlamp assembly on the 2017-2018 Dodge Journey. It is not a bulb. Its job is to reflect light from another vehicle back toward that driver so the side of the Journey is easier to see in low light.

On the affected vehicles, the reflector in the headlamp assembly does not reflect brightly enough to meet Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard 108. The issue comes from a noncompliant reflector installed during the suspect production period. The repair uses a headlamp assembly with a compliant reflex reflector, so the reflector returns the required amount of light.

There is no warning sign before failure. The headlamp can appear installed and intact, but the reflector still falls short of the required brightness standard.

The year and model narrow the scope, but the VIN decides. Check your VIN to confirm whether your specific SUV is included.

What's the safety risk?

The safety concern is lower vehicle visibility to other drivers, which increases the risk of a crash. No warning sign is listed for this reflector issue, so confirm your VIN and schedule the headlamp assembly replacement soon. Repair is free at any franchised Dodge dealer.

What should I do?

  1. Check your VIN to confirm your 2017-2018 Dodge Journey is included in this recall.
