What's wrong?
The transmission assembly in the 2022 Jeep Gladiator includes a parking wheel and parking pawl. When you shift into Park, the pawl is supposed to lock into the parking wheel inside the automatic transmission. That lock helps keep the truck from rolling when the driveline is not being powered.
On affected Gladiators, the parking wheel was crimped incorrectly during transmission assembly. That crimp holds the wheel in the right position. If it loosens, the wheel can move toward the rear of the transmission housing and stop lining up cleanly with the parking pawl. That leaves the transmission less able to hold the truck in Park.
An owner can notice a diagnostic trouble code, a change in drive quality, or noise from the transmission area. Those signs point to the parking mechanism or internal transmission parts not behaving as designed.

What's the safety risk?
A parking mechanism malfunction can leave the vehicle without a working park position, allowing rollaway and increasing crash risk. Warning signs include a Diagnostic Trouble Code, a change in drive quality, or unusual noise. Schedule service promptly and avoid relying on the transmission park position alone. Repair is free at any franchised Jeep dealer.
