What's wrong?
The electric retractable awning on affected 2022-2023 Grand Design Momentum, Transcend, Solitude, Imagine, and Reflection travel trailers is the powered fabric shade mounted along the side of the trailer. Its motor rolls the awning in and out, while the fabric edge stays locked to a PVC track so the roll moves in a controlled path.
On certain Lippert Solera awnings under 18 feet long, the welded joint between the awning fabric and the adjoining PVC track was not bonded deeply enough in some areas. As the awning is extended, retracted, or loaded by normal use, that weak bond can separate. If the fabric pulls away from the track, the awning can drop farther than it should during operation.
The warning sign is visible at the awning roll. Look for a partial separation at either end of the welded fabric edge along the trailer side.
