What's wrong?
The fuel return line on these 2016-2022 Roush Cleantech altered Ford trucks carries unused LPG fuel back through the fuel system after the engine has taken what it needs. The assembly uses a zinc-plated carbon steel fitting held near a stainless-steel crimp collar. That fitting is supposed to stay sealed while the line handles vibration, road spray, and normal fuel-system pressure.
On affected trucks in Salt Belt states, road debris can chip the zinc plating on the fitting. Road salt and moisture then let the exposed carbon steel react where it contacts the stainless-steel collar. That reaction corrodes the fitting, and enough corrosion can weaken the connector until the fuel return line leaks.
Before a leak, an owner or service technician can look for heavy red rust on the fuel return line connector fitting. That rust is the warning sign to report when calling a Ford dealer or Roush Cleantech about recall 22V408.

What happens at the repair
At the dealer, a Ford technician will replace the fuel return lines once Roush Cleantech opens the final repair. Parts and labor will be free under the recall. Because the remedy is still listed as under development, do not treat this as a repair that is ready to schedule until the dealer confirms parts. Roush Cleantech offers reimbursement to owners who already paid to fix this condition. Contact Roush Cleantech customer service and ask how to submit repair documentation for review.
