What's wrong?
The 2-burner cooktop in affected 2021-2022 Off Grid Trailers Expedition, Switchback, and Pando travel trailers uses burner control valves to meter gas to each burner. When you turn a knob, the valve opens, seals against metal mating surfaces, and lets the right amount of fuel reach the burner for ignition. That seal is what keeps gas inside the cooktop plumbing.
On the recalled cooktops, the burner control valve has abrasions on internal or external metal sealing surfaces. Those scratched sealing faces do not close cleanly. Gas can leak past the valve instead of staying contained, even though the replacement cooktop looks the same to an owner from the outside.
The warning sign is the smell of gas while the cooktop is being used. If you smell gas before ignition or around an active flame, stop using the cooktop and keep ignition sources away until the recall repair is handled.
