What's wrong?
The cooktop in the 2022 Bigfoot 25B17FB travel trailer uses burner control valves to meter propane to each burner. When you turn a knob, the valve opens and controls how much gas reaches the burner. The seal inside that valve has to stay smooth and tight so gas flows only where it is supposed to go.
On the recalled Dometic CE99-ZF cooktops, the burner control valve has damage on the metal sealing surfaces. Those abrasions interfere with the valve seal, which allows propane to leak from the control valve area instead of staying contained in the burner system. The replacement cooktop looks the same to an owner, but it uses a serial number outside the recalled group and does not have the defective valve.
The warning sign is the smell of gas while the cooktop is being used, before ignition and visible flame. If you smell gas, stop using the cooktop and keep flames away from it.
