Terex is recalling 1,359 2020-2022 Xt Pro aerial devices because assembly pivot points were not lubricated, which can make pins seize and break their retainers. If a pin retainer fails, the boom can fall and increase the risk of injury; Terex will inspect, lubricate, and repair the pivot points free of charge.

What's wrong?
On the 2020-2022 Terex Xt Pro aerial device, the lower boom cylinder attaches to the turntable through pivot pins, spherical bearings, and pin retainers. Those parts let the boom move while holding the cylinder in its mounting points. Grease keeps the pivot surfaces moving instead of grinding against each other under load.
On affected units, pivot pins were not lubricated during assembly. Without that grease, the pins can seize in the bearing instead of rotating smoothly. The stuck pin then loads the pin retainer until the retainer breaks, which can let the lower boom cylinder disconnect from the turntable and let the booms and platform fall.
The visible warning sign is damaged or missing pins or pin retainers during the daily inspection required by the maintenance manual. Terex says there is no visible difference in the recalled assembly itself, so the inspection has to focus on the condition of those retaining parts.
