What's wrong?

The rear brake disc bolts on the 2022 Triumph Speed Triple RS and Speed Triple Rr hold the rear brake disc to the rear axle. The disc is the metal rotor the rear brake caliper clamps when you press the brake pedal. Those bolts have to stay tight so the disc remains fixed to the wheel assembly.

On affected motorcycles, the thread form inside the rear axle is wrong. That thread does not properly engage the threadlocking compound on the original bolt during assembly. Without that locking action, a retaining bolt can loosen while the motorcycle is in service, leaving the rear brake disc less securely fastened to the axle.

The rider can hear noise from the rear of the motorcycle before the bolt loosens enough to be noticed during inspection. Treat a new rear-end brake or wheel noise as the warning sign and have a Triumph dealer check the rear brake disc fasteners.

Who's affected?

Covers both Speed Triple variants named in the recall, with the rear axle assembly listed under the hydraulic brake system.

Field incidentsNHTSA has logged no field incidents to date.

A matching year and model does not guarantee inclusion. Check your VIN to confirm whether your specific motorcycle is included.

What's the safety risk?

A loose rear brake disc bolt can contact nearby components, keep the rear wheel from rotating freely, and increase the risk of a crash. Noise from the rear of the motorcycle is a warning sign, so slow down, stop in a safe place, and arrange service soon. Repair is free at any franchised Triumph dealer.

What should I do?

  1. Check your VIN to confirm your 2022 Triumph Speed Triple RS or Speed Triple Rr is included in this recall.

  3. Bring the recall notice if Triumph has mailed one. If not, reference recall number 22V207 when you call.
