2010-2014 Triple E Motorhome Recall 22V136: Refrigerator

Recall 22V136 affects 964 2010-2014 Triple E Serenity, Libero, and Unity motorhomes for missing refrigerator exhaust deflectors. Dealers install deflectors free.

Triple E is recalling 964 2010-2014 Unity, Libero, and Serenity motorhomes because missing refrigerator exhaust metal deflectors let hot exhaust vent onto the wood frame. That overheated wood raises the risk of fire, and Triple E dealers will complete the repair free of charge.

What's wrong?

The refrigerator in these 2010-2014 Triple E Serenity, Libero, and Unity motorhomes vents hot exhaust out through the upper fridge area when it runs on LP gas. Metal heat deflectors are small galvanized shields installed on the wood framing around the refrigerator cabinet. Their job is to keep that exhaust heat off the wood surfaces behind and beside the fridge.

On the affected motorhomes, those deflectors were not installed on the wood framing at the rear of the fridge. With no shield in place, hot exhaust from gas operation vents directly onto the wood frame instead of being directed away from it. That heat can discolor the wood and overheat the frame surfaces around the refrigerator cabinet.

Owners can see the warning sign by opening the upper fridge vent area and looking at the nearby wood frame surfaces. The reported sign is wood discoloration from heat exposure.

Who's affected?

Covers three Triple E motorhome lines across the 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013, and 2014 model years, with the refrigerator heat deflector as the shared component.

What's the safety risk?

An overheated wood frame can ignite and cause a fire. Look for discoloration on the wood frame and treat it as a reason to call the dealer before your next trip. Schedule the recall repair soon. Repair is free at any franchised Triple E dealer.

What should I do?

  1. Check your VIN to confirm your 2010-2014 Triple E Serenity, Libero, or Unity motorhome is included in this recall.
  2. Contact a franchised Triple E dealer to schedule the free metal heat-deflector and screw installation that redirects refrigerator exhaust away from the wood frame.
  3. Ask the dealer whether to keep the refrigerator off until the repair is complete.
  4. Bring the recall notice if Triple E mailed one. If not, reference recall number 22V136 when you call.
  5. Call Triple E customer service at 1-877-992-9906 with recall questions.

What happens at the repair

At the dealer, a Triple E technician installs the missing metal heat deflectors and secures them with screws so refrigerator exhaust is not venting directly onto the wood frame. The recall repair is free, with parts and labor covered. Triple E says RV service centers and retail owners will be reimbursed for repair costs paid before the owner notice. If you already paid for this repair, contact Triple E customer service and ask what documentation they need for the claim.

Frequently asked questions

What is recall 22V136?

Recall 22V136 covers 964 2010-2014 Triple E Serenity, Libero, and Unity motorhomes with missing refrigerator exhaust metal deflectors. Exhaust can vent onto the wood frame, overheat it, and lead to a fire. Triple E dealers install the deflectors and screws for free.

What should I do if my 2010-2014 Triple E Serenity, Libero, or Unity is on this recall?

Check your VIN to confirm your specific motorhome is included in recall 22V136. If it is, contact a Triple E dealer to schedule installation of the refrigerator exhaust metal deflectors and screws. Reference recall number 22V136 or Triple E recall CA#10050-1 when you call.

Is the recall repair free?

Yes. Federal recall law requires manufacturers to repair the defect at no cost, and Triple E's remedy says dealers will install the metal heat deflectors and screws free of charge. The free repair applies at a Triple E dealer regardless of where the motorhome was purchased.

What is the safety risk?

The safety risk is fire. Missing refrigerator exhaust metal deflectors let hot exhaust vent directly onto the motorhome's wood frame. That wood can overheat and ignite. If your VIN is included, arrange the free dealer repair before using the refrigerator again.

What if I bought this Triple E motorhome used?

The free recall repair still applies. Recalls follow the VIN, not the first owner, so a used 2010-2014 Triple E Serenity, Libero, or Unity still qualifies if its VIN is included. Check your VIN, then call a Triple E dealer with recall number 22V136.
