What's wrong?
The secondary diesel fuel filter on these 2021 Ford F-250 Sd, F-350 Sd, F-450 Sd, F-550 Sd, F-600 Sd, F-650, and F-750 vehicles sits under the hood in the fuel system for the 6.7L diesel engine. Its job is to clean fuel before it continues through the engine, while the filter cap seals the top of the filter housing so fuel stays contained under operating pressure.
On affected vehicles, foreign material in the raw material for the filter cap interfered with the molding process. That defect can leave a small void in the top center of the cap. Over time, the void can open into a pinhole, allowing diesel fuel to leak from the top of the secondary fuel filter.
Occupants can notice a fuel odor or see fuel leaking under the hood. The check engine light can also come on, with low fuel pressure diagnostic trouble code P008A stored.

If you notice those signs, stop the trip when safe and call a Ford dealer. Repair is free at any franchised Ford dealer.
