Recall 21V878 affects 11,419 2020-2021 Alfa Romeo Stelvio and Giulia vehicles for cracked fuel sensor housings. Repair is free at any franchised Alfa Romeo dealer.
Alfa Romeo is recalling 11,419 2020-2021 Stelvio and Giulia vehicles because the fuel line sensor housing can crack and leak fuel. A leak raises the risk of an engine stall, crash, or fire near an ignition source, and Alfa Romeo dealers will complete the repair free of charge.

What's wrong?
The pressure temperature sensor is part of the fuel line assembly in the engine compartment on affected 2020-2021 Alfa Romeo Stelvio and Giulia vehicles. It helps monitor fuel conditions while gasoline moves through the engine compartment fuel pipes. The sensor housing has to stay sealed so fuel stays inside the line under normal engine operation.
On these vehicles, the sensor housing was built from suspect fuel sensor batches. That housing can crack, which breaks the seal around the fuel line sensor. Once the housing cracks, fuel can leak into the engine compartment instead of staying inside the fuel pipes.
Vehicle occupants can notice a fuel smell while the engine is running. Reduced vehicle performance is another warning sign, because the fuel system is no longer holding and delivering fuel as intended.
Who's affected?
Covers Giulia and Stelvio across the 2020 and 2021 model years, all tied to the engine-compartment fuel-pipe pressure temperature sensor.

What's the safety risk?
A fuel leak can stall the engine, which increases crash risk. Fuel leaking near an ignition source also raises fire risk. If you smell fuel while the engine is running or notice reduced performance, stop in a safe place and call the dealer before continuing. Repair is free at any franchised Alfa Romeo dealer.
What should I do?
- Check your VIN to confirm your 2020-2021 Alfa Romeo Stelvio or Giulia is included in this recall.
- Contact a franchised Alfa Romeo dealer to schedule the free fuel line sensor housing inspection and replacement that fixes the cracked housing fuel leak.
- Bring the recall notice if Alfa Romeo mailed one. If not, reference recall number 21V878 or Alfa Romeo recall Y91 when you call.
- Stop driving and contact the dealer if you smell fuel, see fuel leaking, or the engine stalls before the repair.
- Keep ignition sources away from the vehicle if you suspect a fuel leak.
What happens at the repair
At the dealer, an Alfa Romeo technician inspects the fuel line sensor housing and replaces it if the housing is cracked or otherwise needs replacement. The recall repair is free, including parts and labor. FCA US offers reimbursement for owners who already paid to repair this same problem before the recall. Follow the owner letter instructions and send the original receipt or other proof of payment to FCA US so the expense can be reviewed and confirmed.
