Recall 21V841 covers 1,843 2020-2022 Great Dane trailers with loose iABS screws. Repair will be free at Great Dane dealers once available.
Great Dane is recalling 1,843 2020-2022 Freedom, Champion, and Everest trailers because loose screws on the iABS unit can let pressure escape from the brake system. That pressure loss can cause a loss of brake function and increase crash risk, and the Great Dane dealer repair will be free once available.

What's wrong?
The iABS valve on affected 2020-2022 Great Dane Freedom, Champion, and Everest trailers is a brake control unit. It helps manage brake pressure and anti-lock braking, so the trailer wheels slow in a controlled way instead of locking during hard braking. The bracket cover and end cover are held in place by screws that keep the valve sealed and secured.
On these trailers, some WABCO 2M iABS valves were reworked with screws tightened below the required torque. The rework station was programmed incorrectly, so the screws on the bracket cover and end cover left the supplier too loose. As the trailer is used, those screws can loosen and back out. That lets pressure escape from the iABS unit and reduces the brake pressure available through the valve.
Great Dane reported no warning before the issue shows up. There is no warning sign before failure, so an owner or driver should not expect a dashboard light, noise, or pedal feel change to confirm the problem.

What's the safety risk?

What should I do?
- Check your VIN to confirm your 2020-2022 Great Dane Freedom, Champion, or Everest trailer is included in this recall.

- Ask a franchised Great Dane dealer about the free iABS unit inspection and replacement that fixes the loose-screw pressure-loss issue.
- Reference recall number 21V841 when you call or bring the trailer in for service.
- Avoid hauling with the trailer until Great Dane or the dealer confirms the iABS unit has been inspected and repaired.
What happens at the repair
Until Great Dane opens the final dealer repair, contact a Great Dane dealer with your VIN and ask how to handle the trailer.
