What's wrong?
The wheel lug nuts on 2019-2021 Doosan Portable Power Mobile Generator and Air Compressor units fasten each wheel to the hub while the unit is being towed. They are supposed to be tightened to a set torque, which is the clamping force that keeps the wheel seated against the hub. When that force is correct, the wheel stays secure through road vibration and normal towing loads.
On affected units, the lug nuts were inadequately torqued during production installation. That means the nuts were not tightened enough to hold the wheel with the intended clamping force. As the compressor or generator is towed, vibration and load can loosen the wheel further. In reported cases, wheels came off portable air compressors and mobile generators while being towed.
There is no warning sign before failure. Before towing, the lug nuts need to be checked and properly torqued, and any damage from loose lug nuts needs to be repaired.
