What's wrong?
The rear brake rotor on a 2020 Zero Sr/F is the metal disc at the rear wheel that the brake caliper grips to slow the motorcycle. The rotor is held to the wheel assembly by bolts, and those bolts have to stay tight while the brake absorbs heat and vibration.
On affected motorcycles, the rear rotor bolts were tightened to 10 ft-lbs during manufacturing. Zero later determined that this torque was not enough and changed the specification to 26 ft-lbs. If a bolt backs out of its socket, it can move far enough to contact the caliper arm or swingarm and damage nearby parts.
The warning sign is a high-pitched, objectionable noise from the rear of the motorcycle. An inspection can also show damage to the caliper arm or swingarm after a bolt has backed out.

What's the safety risk?
Loose rear rotor bolts can damage the caliper or swingarm, reduce rear braking capability, and increase the risk of a crash. A high pitched, objectionable noise is a warning sign; visible damage can also show during inspection. If you hear that noise, stop riding and contact a dealer. Repair is free at any franchised Zero dealer.
What should I do?
