What's wrong?
The patio awning on the 2021-2022 Thor Motor Coach Venetian is the powered shade assembly mounted to the side of the motorhome. When it is extended, the awning arms and fabric place load on the mounting brackets that hold the assembly to the coach body. Those brackets have to be fully fastened so the awning stays attached while it is out.
On affected Venetians, the awning changed from a 16-foot unit to an 18-foot unit during production, and the installation did not include all required screws. Some screws were missing from two of the four brackets, leaving the awning without the reinforcement it needs. With the awning extended, the assembly can separate from the motorhome instead of staying secured to the side wall.
There is no warning sign before failure. Owners should not rely on a sound, light, or visible change to confirm the awning is secured.
